Top 8 Places to Visit in Baler

For this year's trip with my high school friends, we decided to go to Baler simply because we wanted to try surfing. These are the friends I've been with for almost 11 years now. After graduating from high school, we had gone to different universities and different courses. We may not be seeing each other often during those times due to unending schoolwork deadlines (and I for moving in to Bulacan) our friendship never wavered. If we set a date for a get together, we do it like the old times. And if I may quote Elizabeth Foley, "The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart."

There's 10 of us and we paid Php. 3,700 each for the private van, tour guide and 2 rooms to stay in at St. Francis Transient House. Each room has 3 beds, fully-airconditioned, has a cable TV with own bathroom and balcony. We stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights inclusive of free breakfast meal.

#1 Dicasalarin Cove
Entrance Fee per pax: Php 300

You must be/must have a good driver because the road here is really steep and treacherous.

At the entrance, there's a warning sign that says:
(no pun intended)

Tent Rental: Php 500

Tip: Buy your lunch at Thelma's Kitchenette and enjoy the meal with your friends inside the tent for an extraordinary lunch experience.
Per pax: Php 206

#2 Sabang Beach
1 hour surfing with surf trainer: Php 350

#3 Ditumabo Falls
Per pax: Php 30

If you feel hungry, there are food vendors on your way to the Mother falls. So I suggest not to bring any food with you because it'll be quite a long walk.

#4 Aniao Islets
Per pax: Php 20

For rock formation enthusiast, this is the perfect place to be.

#5 Surfer Grill
Tip: Try their Bulalo Barbecue and Choco Banana Shake!

#6 Hanging Bridge
For thrill-seekers, try crossing this bridge. I've been holding to the bridge's handle for my dear life and wishing to finish crossing it as soon as I've set my foot on it's shaky structure.

#7 Ermita Hill
This place is historical and according to Kuya Clifford (our tour guide), it has been the refuge of the 7 families who survived the Tsunami in 1735.

#8 Balete Tree Park
This tree is the largest Balete tree I have ever seen yet. We went inside and instead of feeling scared of what's in it, I gaze in awe and marveled on how beautiful this tree is.
